Application for License without Examination:

  • Comity Fee: $1,400*
  • § 10.06 Military Spouse Registration, Initial
    Application:
      $375
    • NOTE — after approval of the Military Spouse
      Registration, the registration fee for the initial application can be
      applied to a subsequent exam, UBE score transfer, or comity application. 
    • Military Spouse Re-registration: $100.00

Registration Applications for In-House Counsel or Consultants:

  • § 10.01 In House Counsel/Foreign Legal
    Consultant Registration:
     $900.00*
  • § 10.01 Late Registration: $300 plus the In House Counsel/Foreign Legal Consultant  Registration Fee
  • § 10.01 Reinstatement:  $450.00

Miscellaneous Fees:

  • Practice Pending Admission: $75
  • Re-Register for Practice Pending Admission: $40
  • License Fee $150 (paid as part of initial Registration wiht BPR)
  • Re-issue License $150
  • Tennessee Law Course: $15.00
  • Returned Check Fee:  $40
  • Copy Fee: $40
  • Archive Fee: $50

*This fee may be paid online by credit card after completing the online Tennessee Application through Synergy. A convenience fee will be charged as a separate transaction; the amount depends on the type of card used.

Other fees may be paid by check or money order, payable to the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners and mailed to our office at 511 Union Street, Suite 525, Nashville, TN 37219 or paid in person by check, money order, or cash. 

Refund Policy

  • Refund of Fee for Duplicate or Incorrect Applications
    • Applicants who submit the incorrect application or who submit a duplicate application may petition the Board as provided in Rule 7, § 13.02 for a refund minus an administrative fee of $150.
    • Credit card service fees are not refundable.
    • The petition must show good cause for the refund.
  • All fees are due upon filing of an application. No step in the admissions process may be taken except upon payment of the fees required for that step. See Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 7, §§ 11.01 -11.03.
  • ALL FEES, other than those for duplicate or incorrect applications as noted above, are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.
